Castle Peak is one of the highest peaks in Tahoe National Forest with beautiful views and varied ski descents. It has everything from open bowls, gladed trees, steep chutes, winter powder and spring corn options. This 1 day ski tour is for anyone with previous backcountry experience.
Your guide will do a tour plan with you in the morning going over the current avalanche and weather forecasts and hazards. After discussing the current conditions, we will come up with the best terrain options to find the best snow and descents.
Advanced skiing or splitboarding skills with good physical condition are required for this tour. This would be a great option after you have taken an Intro to Backcountry Skiing/Splitboarding course and a AIARE avalanche course with us. These tours average 2000-3000' verticle feet of climbing throughout the day.
